 “A meeting was held in the Town Hall, Loftus, on Friday the 21st. Of December 1945...for the founding of a new Craft Lodge for the Loftus area of the Province of the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire... and all present were unanimous that there was a need for a New Lodge and it was decided that progress be made to this end.”

Thus begin the minutes of the first meeting of those who were to be Founders and Lofthouse Lodge, sponsored by Zetland Lodge No. 561, was consecrated on Saturday October 12th., 1946, at the Cleveland Technical Institute, Corporation Road, Middlesbrough.

An Agreement had been entered into with the Agent of the Zetland Estates Company “in respect of hiring some of the rooms in the Town Hall Loftus for the purpose of holding Lodge Meetings”, initially for a period of seven years, and Lofthouse Lodge met in Loftus Town Hall until removing to Guisborough in 1974.

Lofthouse Lodge celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 1996 and continues to meet in Freemasons Hall, Guisborough, on the second Thursday of each month, except January and February.
